General Deity Name: Himeros, God of Sexual Desire Pantheon: Greek Current Alias: Jackson. He doesn't let anyone get close enough to him to know a last name. Apparent Age: Mid to late 20's. Occupation: Professional gambler and party-boy
Psychology Personality: Himeros positively drips sex appeal and animal magnitism. Its his job, after all. Everyone has a different perception of who he is and what he's like, because Himeros tends to adapt to be the person of your dreams. In fact, its quite possible that Himeros himself doesn't really know who he is, as his whole life has revolved around giving people what they want. However, he certainly does possess a few traits quite regularly; Himeros tends to be suave, charming, and a bit of a bad boy. This is most likely due to the biggest dichotomy in what people find attractive. Some people want to be charmed and flattered, while others want to be taken for a wild ride. Naturally, Himeros embodies both of these types. He's rarely melancholy, always opting for the cheery side of things, for brooding and being moody can only be attractive for so long. One thing that Himeros can always be depended on for is mischief. He loves a good prank, even if its more than just a harmless joke. Those who know him know to watch their backs, in case they be his next victims. After all, the Erotes weren't gifted with those arrows for nothing!
Due to his fickle nature, Himeros does not bond well with people outside his family. His brothers and his mother mean the world to him, but outside of that circle everyone is but a chance encounter, an acquaintance, and a lover at most. Friendship is not something Himeros engages in, because that takes far more committment than lust. And, of course, he's not at all particular with whom he beds with. He's the type of person to charm anyone and pretend to be the answer to their life's problems, and then be gone in the morning. No note, no phone call. That's how Himeros does business. Some would argue that he has trust issues, whereas Himeros would say its just his lifestyle. He simply does not know any other way.
Attitude toward the Old Gods: Himeros never really bonded with anyone in his pantheon besides his mother and his brothers. The other gods were far too neck-deep in problems, and couldn't seem to keep their professional and personal lives from mixing. Thankfully, Himeros' professional life is his personal life, so he makes sure never to get too close to anyone. No feelings are developed, no harm, no foul. He's even more distant from the other pantheons of old gods. He just assumes that they are just like the rest of his own group of deities, and no one has yet proved him wrong.
Attitude toward New Gods: Himeros is rather fond of the way things are going in the New World, because so much of it is driven by sex. He's glad to help out any of them, so long as it fits his job description.
Background Abilities: Himeros used to be able to inspire lust and desire in a person with little more than a look and a snap of his fingers. Of course, part of that was just his natural charm. His real power comes from his bow and arrows, which have conveniently been updated to a gun and bullets. He also used to be able to use the "heat" of desire to create flame, but now that he's faded into the background he isn't able to create the blazes that were once quite simple.
History: Himeros is the son of Aphrodite and Ares, brother to Eros and Anteros. Consequently, he is the youngest of the Erotes, the ever-youthful winged attendants of Aphrodite. While he had no cult of his own in ancient Greece, he became the patron of sexual desire and lust, the victims of which were said to be wounded by one of his golden arrows. Himeros was never in the spotlight like his eldest brother, Eros, and though he was once jealous of this, he soon realized that lust gives way to love, a much more powerful feeling than his. Lust was not the glorious savior that love was, and Himeros became quite content with living in the background, for he knew that lust was far more common than Eros' genuine love. At least he never had to deal with a debacle like Eros went through with Psyche. Now that made Himeros cringe.
Not a terrible much happened to Himeros in ancient Greece, and he was not at all troubled when belief in him was taken to America. As he took root in the new world around him, Himeros decided he was going to be quite fond of this place. Indeed, the Wild West was certainly his favorite. Without all of the baggage and expectations of urban society, the people were more free to do what they wanted. Himeros flourished in the Manifest Destiny of the West. He even went so far as to transform his beloved bow into a gun, his magical gold and lead arrows into bullets of each kind. It far more suited the new era that Himeros had been ushered into, and held a sexier edge than the bow had.
As America continued to grow, Las Vegas became a candy store to Himeros. When not in New York, he's most likely there, gambling money and cares of the world away. He lives up to his title as an Erote, and plans on staying forever young while helping everyone else to continue lowering their inhibitions.
